Datecoin, a blockchain-based dating platform has seen a surge in interest and is now one of only two ICO Telegram groups with over 100,000 members, according to the ICO Whitelist website.

Furthermore, most of those members have joined over just the last two days, putting it in the running as the fastest growing Telegram group ever.

The project’s token sale is currently running and is open for another eight days. An airdrop which has appears to have gone viral appears to be behind the growing interest in the platform which is offering those who sign up 12 free DTC tokens.

Datecoin pitches itself as the world’s first dating service to use neural networks and artificial intelligence algorithms to match together those looking for a soulmate. It also makes leverages blockchain technology to verify user identities and to eliminate both fake accounts and bots.

Datecoin is an extension of Denim, a dating app based in Russia that currently hosts over 700,000 users. The company is now looking to raise $20 million to roll out a blockchain-based version of the app for a global audience. They are forecasting 20 million users in four years.

Dating apps are fickle – there are many out there, and only a few have been successful. However, DateCoin’s new airdrop-inspired following may give it a head-start at building a community if it can turn those token holders into users.
